wrongfully accused + dna evidence = cha ching
I was reading my morning headlines on Yahoo.com and noticed that they posted a story regarding several ex-inmates in Texas who were on the verge of becoming millionaires due to being wrongfully accused for a crime. For instance, Thomas McGowan (seen above), a DNA exoneree released last year after nearly 23 years in prison, stands to receive about $1.8 million from the state in a new law that grants several thousands of dollars to those wrongly imprisoned.
Is it me – or does it seem as if they are not properly awarding these individuals for time lost. Who knows what they could have achieved and accomplished during the time they were imprisoned. I’m sorry but $1.8 million does not even bring back the time lost with family, friends and simply life.
